SERVE is a New England-wide food buying cooperative for people who volunteer at least two hours per month anywhere in their communities. Every month, people can get frozen meats, vegetarian items and fresh fruits and vegetables for a savings of one-third off the retail price. |

Hotline counselors also give callers information on public programs (such as food stamps), meal sites for the elderly, Meals On Wheels programs, salvage good distribution sites and other programs that supply free or low-cost food. |
